Details: On Monday, May 21, 2021, the Chief of Army Staff of Nigeria (C. O. A. S) Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other soldiers including the pilots were reportedly dead in an aircraft accident in Kaduna State.
The next day, a report from another source circulated that an eyewitness had recently announced how two people survived the crash using a space shuttle.
Another source investigation found that the report was published by a social media user named, Nwachukwu John Owen using @ johnown99 on Twitter.
Further investigation revealed that the video was posted on Twitter and Facebook. In the video, a man is seen telling the story of how the plane crashed. He said two people survived after using a vacuum cleaner.
Assessment: While browsing YouTube, we discovered the source of the video of the massacre, and the man in question was not talking about the Kaduna plane crash at all.
The video claiming the survival of two in an aircraft was posted by Voice TV Nigeria on YouTube and has been published since September 28, 2018.
The video further shows that the video was part of a training session to mark Nigeria’ s Independence Day with NAF aircraft in 2018.
The accident took place in Abuja on September 28, 2018. Nigerian Air Force spokesman Ibikunle Daramola confirmed this in a Twitter post.
Finally, reports that two people got off the plane that crashed with Attahiru and 10 other soldiers are false and everyone should condemn any rumor concerning the statement.
