Insecurity affects everyone alike. It does not matter whether the person is a member of the All Progressives Congress or Peoples Democratic Party. Nigeria seems to be battling insecurity on several fronts: Boko haram and bandits in the north while Eastern Security network, herdsmen attack, unknown gunmen and kidnappers in the south. Many expected that as a former head of state, Buhari would be able to properly manage the situation but so far, insecurity is still a huge problem.
The economy under the Buhari administration has not been something good to write home about. The economy has gone into recession. Although on paper, the country is out of recession, the lives and standard of living of Nigerians has not improved. Many people are still living below the poverty line while youth unemployment and underemployment is still on the rise.
The One-Nigeria project under the Buhari administration has gone into serious shambles. Since the civil war, it is difficult to find another period where Nigerians are so divided along ethnic and religious lines like it is happening now. Buhari himself has not restored Nigeria’s faith in this project due to perceived pro-northern bias. Bringing all Nigerians together in unity can go a long way to solve half of the country’s problems.
