Following the recent insecurity and economic issues in the country, which made citizens to lament and also call for the country’s disintegration, has drawn the attention of Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, as he said Nigeria’s unity should be maintained, telling the 36 governors in the country to come up with strategic solutions to resolve current crises and not wait on President alone, in a statement on Sunday.
Mr Atiku said “We don’t have any choice, considering the alternative, which is a calamity that we would not wish to return to,” as he pointed out that the major problem facing the country today was that the citizens are drifting, not just politically and economically, but also drifting apart from one another.
He further added as he explained, “I have often said that the difference between us is not North and South, but between good and bad. Therefore, those who are good should come together to show those who are bad that we are in the overwhelming majority,”
Reports from PEOPLES GAZETTE, confirmed Atiku said as he speak against the separation of the regions or secession, “That is why we cannot fail. That is why we cannot retreat into our regional enclaves. Too much is at stake. We are too centrally located to be dislocated. Together we must win forever.”
I believe this is a fatherly advice, let’s all heed to it. What do you have to say about it?
