On Wednesday, Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig. Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, Stated that corps members can be mobilised for war if need be, adding that they are on reserve and are part of the national defence policy of the country.
The NYSC Director-General, while speaking on the Sunrise daily programme of Channels Television also stated that these corps members are educated and can be trained to use ammunitions, noting that there is no better place the government can quickly mobilize youths to fight for the country if a serious war erupts, except on the platform.
He further used the corps members performances during the short three weeks orientation camp as an example, stating that the corps members are moulded like soldiers and also taught to play military musical instruments and more. Gen. Ibrahim also advised that the NYSC scheme is indispensable now, considering the calls for secession by various groups in the country.

Recall,few days ago the House of Representative revealed plans to scrap the NYSC scheme. Can this make them halt their decision?
