Nigerian government has disclosed that despite the huge amount of funds available to produce COVID-19 vaccine in the country, local manufacturers cannot start now due to some standing measures.
Minister of health, Osagie Ehanire, explained why local production of the vaccine cannot start in the country at this present time as the country continue to confirm cases of the deadly disease.
The minister attributed the delay to the government’s inability to obtain the necessary equipments for the production of the vaccine. But assured that the huge amount of money earmarked by the national assembly was still intact.
It was learned that the federal government was still in discussion with local production company to facilitate the process of producing the vaccine here in Nigeria.
He said there is a lot of delay by the local production company in getting themselves ready, saying the federal government has not abandon the production of the vaccine in the country.
