Muhammad Abdullahi, Chief of Staff to Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has stated that 73% of women in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State believe it is acceptable for a man to beat a woman.
He made the announcement at the official introduction of the United Nations Population Fund’s 2021 State of the World Population Report in Kaduna, in partnership with the Planning and Budget Commission (PBC).

According to him, the alarming data are based on the state Bureau of Statistics’ latest General Households Survey, which is now being evaluated by key stakeholders. He went on to say that the data were alarming and that the Kaduna government will investigate.
According to the Kaduna Governor’s Chief of Staff, a survey showed that over 30% of girls in the Kubau and Kudan LGAs are married off before they reach the age of 15, while 38% of girls in the Soba LG are married before they reach the age of 15.
According to a zonal survey, 32% of girls in Kaduna North Senatorial Zone, 15% in Kaduna Central, and 17% in Kaduna South are married off before the age of 15. According to the report, female genital mutilation is prevalent in both Makarfi and Giwa LGAs, with 49 percent in Makarfi and 34 percent in Giwa.
