Although there is anticipated school reopening on 12th October 2020, setbacks towards its realization are intense. It started with a section of parents and other leaders who expressed their displeasure of having schools to reopen on the specified date. The majority were of the opinion that the ministry of education allowed them just less than one week to make preparations for their children to get back to school.
It would sound an irony that already cases are filed in court against scheduled school reopening but the it nothing but a mere fact. Among those who filed such cases are Okiya Omtata, and activist. Following a case of the same calibre filed by one of the parents in high court, this case has prompted the the high court to suspend scheduled reopening of school temporarily. Joseph Enock Aura is this parent, who also filed a case against the implementation of the CBC.
The high court hereby decided to convene a meeting of the education stakeholders in which its attendance will also involve the petitioners. This meeting is scheduled to take place for three days, starting Wednesday 7th October 2020. The meeting is aimed to discus the way forward on the best date to have schools reopened.
