BREAKING NEWS – We Cant’t Open Schools For Now, Kogi State Government Decisions

The Kogi State government has made an elucidation on a decision that schools reopen in Kogi State immediately.

On Monday, claims evolved that government has urged principals and teachers to resume on Monday, 15th June 2020.

But Mrs. Cecilia Cook, Executive Chairman of Kogi State Science, Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM) denied the claims of the rumours.

She made this statement speaking through the Information Officer, Mr. Onighaye Talabi, disclosing that the commission had no right to urge schools to reopen.

She said, “We cannot reopen schools, because it is not within our mandate. It is only the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology that reserves the right.”

“The Executive Chairman of STETSCOM has not directed schools to reopen. Schools will definitely resume soon. The principals and teachers should disregard the report as it is not true”.
