Prof.George Magoha, CS Education on a past function.
Students have always been confused following varying information from unreliable sources about school re-opening. Students and parents have always got confused as nobody has been giving them clear information on when exactly schools will be re-opened.
It is now almost six months since schools closed up in March this year in a bid to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The government under the Ministry of Education led by Magoha has not been able to provide clear information on the exact month when schools will re-open.
At first, Prof. Magoha, the Cabinet Secretary for education had promised that schools could be opened in September. When the promised time was approaching, he made a quick about-turn and said that schools will be re-opened in January.
However, Magoha has kept on saying that schools might re-open earlier before January if the infection curve flattens and becomes less than 5%.
Now that the curve has completely flattened and that the infection rate is ranging at 4 and 3, the Ministry of Education has planned a stakeholder meeting that is scheduled for tomorrow at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development in Nairobi.
This is in response to the recent Presidential directive for convention of the National Consultative conference to chat Kenya’s post-covid-19 future
.It is expected that the meeting will discuss and come up with the exact dates and months when schools will be re-opened.
What is your take on school re-opening?
