Protests here and there, demanding an end to police brutality. The protests are held in practically all states in the country. The youths are the ones spearheading this protest against police brutality, they are demanding an end to SARS and the proposed SWAT team. These protests have lead to the digging up of several event relating to the special anti robbery squad and police force in general that happened in the past. Several cases have been dug up on social media and the masses are asking for judgement to be served.
One of such incidence is that of the Ezu river in Anambra State. This incidence happened several years back and the people are demanding that they want justice as they believe the men of SARS were responsible for Incidence. The event which happened in 2013 was a shocker to the people of Anambra State. They woke up on the 9th of January 2013 to see bodies floating on the Ezu river, it was a mystery to the residents in the area. The bodies from the rivers were mostly found wearing singlet and boxers, they were quickly buried by the police, but were later exhumed for postmortem. Just 3 of the bodies were initially exhumed but other bodies were soon exhumed for examination.
It was said by members of Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, claimed that some of the dead bodies were its members earlier arrested by the police in Onitsha and detained at the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, headquarters, Awkuzu.
This led to the assumption in many quarters that the bodies were dumped in the river by the men of this unit. Many people on Twitter have demanded that this case me looked into once again and the men of these unit be punished for their offense.
In recent happenings Pro-Biafra group indicted the former Chief of Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Anambra state, ASP as the mastermind behind the killings and dumping of the bodies that were found in the river on January 9, 2013. Do you think men of SARS were responsible?
