1.Obasanjo: My Administration’s Mistakes Not Based on Selfish Interest

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that any mistake his administration made was a genuine one that was not based on selfish interest.

The former President said there was no question of favoritism when he was in government, adding that all decisions were in the interest of Nigeria.

Obasanjo, who spoke in an interview published in The Point Newspaper, a weekly Nigerian tabloid, on Monday, noted that some South-west elders had complained that he did not do as much for the South-west (Yoruba), but he told them that if he did well for Nigeria, he had also done well for the South-west.

He said, “When you are in a position of leadership, don’t think only of today, think of tomorrow, because, look, you would be a reference point. How did he perform? How did he do? What did he do? In the future, people would refer to it. For one thing, I have no mind for malice. I cannot even think of malice. And when I have a job to do, I sink myself into it.”


2. Service chiefs haven’t disappointed Buhari, Nigerians –Buratai

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen. Tukur Buratai has declared that he and other service chiefs appointed five years ago have not disappointed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari ( retd .), and the nation in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Buratai made the declaration while welcoming the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, to the Nigerian Army Super camp four located in Faskari, Katsina State.

Olanisakin was on an operational visit to the camp to assess how troops in the newly formed Exercise Sahel Sanity based in the camp were faring.

3.FG: 4.48m Persons Apply for N-Power Jobs

The federal government has disclosed that the applications for the N-Power Batch C scheme have increased to 4.48 million.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq disclosed this via a tweet.

She stated that the applications were received within 16 days after the portal was opened.

The federal government plans to enroll 400,000 applicants in the Batch C scheme.


Providing updates on the applications so far received for the scheme, Umar-Farouq stated in a tweet on Sunday night that “my team and I continue to interface with stakeholders to ensure a successful transition for the Npower program.

4. Gani Adams stands for the unity of Yoruba race — Oluomo

The Oyo State chapter of Oodua peoples Congress (OPC )under the leadership of Comrade Rotimi Olumo, has maintained that the Aare Ona Kakanfo, Otunba Gani Adams always takes the unity of the Yoruba race as his paramount interest.

Speaking with newsmen in Ibadan Oyo State capital yesterday, Comrade Olumo wondered how some people who are out on mischievous ambition wanted to use the name of Aare Ona Kakanfo to score a political point.

He averred that those mischievous people wanted to reap where they didn’t sow, adding that, that was the reason they always solicit the favor of Senator Bola Tinubu at all cost.

Olumo maintained that the interest of Yorubaland has always been of paramount interest to the Aare Ona Kakanfo.

5.APC govs, leaders meet today, plan to fund for Edo, Ondo polls

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress will at their meeting today ( Tuesday ) discuss how the party will raise funds for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states.

The PUNCH on Monday gathered that the governors and other leaders of the APC were determined to ensure the party’ s victories at the two governorship elections.

It was learned besides discussing how funds would be mobilized for the party, the leaders at the meeting would come up with other strategies that would pave the way for the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party and other members contesting the elections.


It was gathered in Abuja on Monday that governors under the aegis of the Progressives Governors Forum will receive briefings from the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/ Extra -Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee and governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and his Niger State counterpart, Governor Abubakar Bello, who is the chairman of the Ondo APC reconciliation panel.
