In the mid hours of today, Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, was visited by the officials of the Nigerian Inter-Religious Council (NIREC). Some of the notable officials are Mohammad Sa’ad Abubakar and Christian Association of Nigeria’s President, Reverend Samson Supo Ayokunle.
Hours after their visit, Femi Adesina, the President’s special adviser on Media and Publicity, shared with the public through his Facebook page, what the President discussed with the NIREC officials.

According to Femi Adesina, president Muhammadu Buhari said that, he’s more pained about insecurity than any Nigerian can imagine. He added that, he would keep pressurizing the military and Police Force to put more efforts towards eradicating insecurity in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari told the NIREC officials that they have the bigger role to play in making Nigerians understand the right things about his administration. He pinpointed that, the religious leaders should keep preaching peace and order through their mediums. In his words, “your role is critical in putting the correct perspective out to Nigerians.”
In response to the President’s statements, the CAN President, Reverend Supo Ayokunle, alongside Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, thanked the President, charged the security forces in the country to give fighting insecurity their best and lastly prayed for peace and order to be restored back in Nigeria. They also emphasized the need for oneness saying, “It is in our togetherness that we are stronger.
