The former Governor of Lagos state, Ahmed Bola Tinubu and south-west leaders reportedly issued a strict warning to the chairman of Adeson International Business Concept Ltd and the Akoni Oodua of Yoruba, Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho and other people who are agitating for Yoruba nation.
The southwest leaders and the national leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Tinubu on Sunday, indirectly called Sundry Igboho and others to desist from agitating for division, while asking them to embrace ‘one Nigeria’.
On Sunday, 23 May, 2021, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief Bisi Akande and others had a meeting in Lagos to discuss the affairs of southwestern part of the country.
In a comminique that was issued after the meeting, they rejected calls for secession, while expressing deep commitment to the unity of the country, adding that secession won’t be in the best interest of the country.
Speaking further, the politicians indirectly warned Sunday Igboho and other Yoruba people who are pushing the agenda of disintegration.
“They express their strong opposition to separatist agitations and hate speeches. While urging those indulging in such to desist forthwith,” as stated in the comminique.
