Gunmen Abduct PDP Chieftain In Jigawa
Gunmen have kidnapped a 55-year-old PDP chieftain, Hamidan Abdu (shangel) in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

A source who preferred anonymity confined to Daily Post that the gunmen in their numbers stormed shangel village in Ringim Local Government about 1:30am with arms and kidnapped the victim.
He said the gunmen went directly to the victim’s house and carried him away, shooting guns in the air before they left the village with the victim.
He said residents of the area made attempts to rescue the victim but to no avail due to the gun shots.
Jonathan Lands In Mali On Mediation Mission
Goodluck Ebele Jonathan was the former President of Federal Republic of Nigeria and a chieftain in People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
Recently, Jonathan arrived Bamako, Mali on Tuesday for another 48-hour mediation mission on behalf of ECOWAS.
He arrived a day after Colonel Assimi Goita pledged to swiftly return the country to civilian rule after leading its second coup in nine months.
Jonathan, representing the 15-nation Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), as special envoy, will meet Goita in the evening, a diplomat said.
The mediator will also have working sessions with the stakeholders of the Transition.
He will take stock of the implementation of the recommendations of the extraordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS on Mali, held in Accra, Ghana, on May 30. latest.
During the summit, the leaders recommended to the authorities of Mali the appointment of a civilian prime minister, the formation of an inclusive government and the respect of the dates indicated for the electoral exchanges
Mali is battling to restore credibility with its partners after the second military takeover since August sparked diplomatic uproar.
Ex-US President Trump Congratulates Buhari On Banning Twitter In Nigeria
Former United States President Donald Trump has praised President Muhammadu Buhari’s ban on Twitter, saying it was a victory for the people of Nigeria and a needed check on the excesses of social media giants.
Trump said, “Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President.”
Mr Trump also said he wished he had taken a similar measure when he was banned from the micro-blogging platform in January.
Amotekun Will Carry AK-47 If FG Approves Licence – Makinde
Makinde is the incumbent Governor of Oyo state and a chieftain in People’s Democratic Party (PDP)
Recently, Makinde said he will not hesitate to arm Amotekun corps in the state with sophisticated weapons if the Federal Government gives approval to the security outfit to bear such arms.
Makinde, who restated his call for establishment of state police, linked security with prosperity, saying investors would not out their money in an unsecured environment.
The governor said this in the speech he delivered in Ibadan on Tuesday at the opening of National Democracy Summit with the theme, “The future of democracy in Nigeria.”
While advocating true federalism, he stated that this system of government would ensure better security and would address some of the challenges the country was facing presently.
Governors Comply With FG’s Order, Shut Down Twitter Handles
In compliance with federal government’s directive, some state governors have deactivated their personal and official Twitter handles.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, had on Friday announced the suspension of Twitter operations in Nigeria.
The ban came a day after Twitter had deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s tweet on the ground that it allegedly suggested genocidal intentions against the people of the South East.
Apparently to ensure compliance with the federal government directive to state government to shut down their Twitter handles, some state governors shut down their personal Twitter handles and the official ones used by the states.
In Plateau State, the commissioner for Information and Communications, Dan Majang, told LEADERSHIP in a telephone conversation in Jos, the state capital, that the state government has complied with the directive.
