It is time for Acton- Ortom
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, on Saturday said it was time to stop crying over the unabated attacks unleashed on people of the state by marauding herdsmen.
Ortom stated this at the Banquet Hall of the Government House during a media parley to mark his second year in office in his second tenure.
Hundreds of people have been killed in Benue State by suspected herdsmen in recent times. Ortom said it was now time for action to protect the people of the state.
He said this propelled the activation of vigilante groups across the state, saying they should be allowed to carry arms to protect their communities.

Diri sends strong message to Buhari
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has stated that his government would not resuscitate any grazing route in order to check herdsmen/farmers clashes.
Naija News recalls that 17 southern governors had after a meeting in Delta State imposed a ban on open grazing in the region.
But President Muhammadu Buhari had directed states to revive cattle grazing routes across the country.
He disclosed that he has asked Nigeria’s Attorney General, Abubakar Malami to begin the process of recovering land from persons who have converted cattle grazing routes for their personal use.
We’ll pay bandits in same coin- Metawalle
Gov. Bello Matawalle of Zamfara has said that his administration will deal decisively with bandits and their sponsors terrorising the state.
Matawalle made his position known in a statewide broadcast he made in Gusau on Saturday following renewed attacks by the hoodlums in the state.
Bandits in their hundreds riding on motorcycles had attacked Kadawa village in Zurmi Local Government area of the state on Thursday night where they were said to have killed some people.
Jonathan felicitates Abdulsalami Abubakar
Former President Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has offered felicitations to ex-Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar on the occasion of his 79th birthday, commending him for his efforts and contributions to the peace and unity of the country.
Dr. Jonathan stated this in a goodwill message to General Abubakar in which he also highlighted the former Head of State’s role in promoting democracy and his passion for service.
In the message the former President said: “I am pleased to join your family and friends to celebrate with you on the occasion of your 79th birthday.”
