Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has urged residents of the state to ignore a sit-at-home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on May 29 and May 30.

Naija News reports that IPOB had declared Friday as a day to celebrate the burial of one of their commanders, Ikonso, who was recently killed by security operatives.

A statement released by the outlawed group also declared May 29 and 30 to celebrate Biafran Day.

Briefing newsmen in Owerri on Thursday, state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, asked residents to shun the order given by the proscribed group.

Herdsmen Invade Benue Community

Armed suspected to be Fulani militias have reportedly killed 36 residents of Shikaan Mbagena Kpav community in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.

DAILY POST gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday night when the armed men invaded the community and slaughtered scores.

According to a source, 36 bodies have been recovered while scores are still missing after the attack.

It was also gathered that some students of the College of Education in Katsina-Ala were also killed.

Yahaya Pays Last Respect To Attahiru

The new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Farouk Yahaya, has his last respect to his predecessor, late Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru.

Attahiru and other military officers died in an air crash last Friday in Kaduna. were buried the following day.

Yahaya signed the condolence register at the headquarters of the Theatre Command of Operation HADIN , Maiduguri, Borno State.

The command, located at Maimalari Cantonment, is responsible for counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations in the North-East.

Gombe Uncovers 431 Ghost Workers

Gombe state government says it has uncovered 431 ghost workers and suspended them from the state government payroll system for the month of May 2021.

This was disclosed by the committee for the Integrated Payroll Payment Gateway and Human Resource Management Information System.

Briefing newsmen on the development yesterday, the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Muhammad Gambo Magaji also disclosed that another 691 staff are billed for investigation due to insufficient attendance as indicated by the biometric data capture machine.

Youths Repel Fulani Herdsmen From Entering Kwara Community

Some Fulani herdsmen migrating from Oyo to Kogi State through Kwara were driven out on Thursday by some youths in the Ojoku and Offa communities of the state.

It was gathered that the resident of the Oyun and Offa Local Government areas repelled the migrants who were migrating from the neighbouring South-West state into the middle-belt areas.

Naija News learnt that the herdsmen with thousands of cows were sighted by the youths, who mobilised and stopped them from entering the area. They were said to be migrating from Iseyin in Oyo to Lokoja in Kogi State when they were accosted.
