Some youths in Igangan have resorted to ‘self-help’ by patrolling with guns and searching vehicles that enter the area following the killings of residents by suspected Fulani herdsmen

Recall that suspected herdsmen attacked Igangan, Ibarapaland, Oyo state on Sunday, June 6th burning down a filling station, buildings including the Palace of the Asingangan(traditional ruler) and killing several people.

The gunmen stormed the community with over 20 motorcycles, killing about 15 people in the attack.

Buhari Replies Ortom Over Benue Killings

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the comments made by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on the killing of residents of the North Central state.

“Naija News” reports that Ortom had accused President Buhari of failing to take actions against herdsmen because he is also a member of the Fulani herders.

But in an interview on Arise News on Thursday, Buhari protested against the utterances of the governor, saying that Ortom was been unfair to him in his comments.

Kogi Government Speaks About Protest

The Kogi State Government has told those planning to protest in the State on Saturday, June 12, to desist or face the full wrath of the law.

Commodore Jerry Omodara, the State Security Adviser, gave the warning on Friday while briefing newsmen on the proposed nationwide protest by some aggrieved individuals in the .

He said there is no for anyone to come out and protest in the state, adding that residents should go about their daily activities without fear or intimidation; stressing that whoever that protest in the State will have him or herself to blame.

Zamfara Cancels Democracy Day Celebration Over Insecurity

Zamfara State Government has cancelled this year’s Democracy Day celebration due to the insecurity currently affecting the state.

The state also directed its citizens to defend themselves against attacks by bandits.

Governor Bello Matawalle gave this directive today while speaking in a prayer session organized by the state government to seek intervention against banditry.

Bello Matawalle added that the insecurity situation has defied solution, as such people should defend themselves.

Security Agencies Carry Out Show Of Force In Ilorin

Few hours to the June 12 proposed nationwide on Saturday, security forces have displayed a show of force in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Security forces comprising Soldiers, the DSS, Police, the Civil Defence Corps riding in patrol vans moved around major roads of the state capital.
